Step by step

How to check your LESCO net metering bill

  1. 1

    Find last month’s figures

Your LESCO bill prints a reading for each register. Those are the “units on your last bill” for off-peak import, peak import and export.

  2. 2

    Read the meter today

Press the scroll button on the green meter until #8, #6 and #5 appear in the corner of the display. Note each running total.

  3. 3

    Pick your scheme

Net metering if your agreement was valid on 9 February 2026, net billing if you connected after that. Enter your rates for a rupee figure.

  4. 4

    Compare with the bill

The calculator gives the energy charge. Your final LESCO bill adds fixed charges, taxes and any fuel adjustment on top.

The 2026 change

Is your LESCO connection on net metering or net billing?

Grandfathered: net metering

LESCO customers who held a valid net metering agreement on 9 February 2026 stay on the old terms until that agreement expires. Exported units cancel imported units one for one.

In the calculator: choose “Net metering” and enter your retail rate as the unit price.

New connections: net billing

New LESCO solar connections fall under NEPRA's Prosumer Regulations 2026. You buy at the retail tariff and sell exports at a separate, lower buyback rate.

In the calculator: choose “Net billing” and enter your off-peak, peak and buyback rates.

The buyback rate is set by NEPRA determination and has changed more than once, so we do not print a figure that might be out of date. Confirm yours with LESCO in writing.

Questions

LESCO net metering questions

How do I calculate my LESCO net metering bill?

For each register, subtract the reading on your last LESCO bill from today's meter reading. Add off-peak (#8) and peak (#6) imports together and subtract them from your export (#5). Under net metering, add any surplus carried forward. A positive answer is credit; a negative one is what you will be billed for.

Does LESCO still offer net metering in 2026?

Not for new applicants. Since NEPRA notified the Prosumer Regulations 2026 on 9 February 2026, new LESCO solar connections are on net billing. Customers with a net metering agreement that was valid on that date keep the old terms until it expires.

What buyback rate does LESCO pay for exported units?

Under net billing, exports are bought at a rate set by NEPRA, well below the retail tariff. It has moved more than once, so check the current figure with LESCO or NEPRA and enter it in the calculator's net billing mode.

What are registers 5, 6 and 8 on my green meter?

Register #8 is off-peak import, #6 is peak import and #5 is off-peak export. Each is a running total since the meter was installed, which is why you subtract the figure from your last bill.

Why doesn't the result match my LESCO bill exactly?

The calculator covers the energy side: units and their price. Your bill also carries fixed charges, meter rent, taxes and fuel price adjustments, which vary month to month.
